Agreement between the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Italian Space Agency to establish a Website on Cosmology
within the context of Project STOQ

VATICAN CITY. 16 November2010 was signed an agreement between the Pontifical Council for Culture and the ItalianSpace Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI)) to establish – within the context of STOQ Project (Science, Theology and the Ontological Quest) – a “Universal Portal on Cosmology”, directed by Prof. Msgr. Gianfranco Basti, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical Lateran University.

Prof. Piero Benvenuti, member of the Administrative Board of the Italian Space Agency and Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Padua and Msgr. Melchor Sánchez de Toca, Undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for Culture and General Director of Project STOQ, announced that the Universal Portal on Cosmology will have the aim of communicating knowledge from the field of cosmology to the wider public (nationally and internationally). It will present philosophical-theological aspects that concern research in the vast field of cosmology and also information on space experiments and observed data which have contributed to the defining of cosmology models.
